Introduction

Postman Pat is a British stop motion animation children’s television series with 8 seasons of varying number of episodes (ranging from 2 to 113), and aired in increasingly often but irregularly spaced periods starting in 1981. It tells the adventures of Pat Clifton, a postman in the fictional British village of Greendale, inspired by Longsleddale, Cumbria. More info here.

Episode 2 of series 5, aired originally in 2003, titled Postman Pat And The Runaway Kite, shows a kite contest to which one of the participants, protagonist’s son Julian Clifton, brings a kite patterned after the city flag, in burgundy and pale blue stripes; the same pattern is woven in his scarf. (I’m reporting from the Portuguese dubbed version; I cannot aver that the original term was «city flag», and not, say, «city colours».)
